At Coffee & Clove, I specialize in creating hand-poured candles infused with spent coffee grinds from local cafes. I have a passion for creating less ingreient, non-toxic, home-made items for every day use. That, and combining creativity and quality, while collaborating with other local businesses. I want your home and life to smell samazing, for you to feel good about what you're being exposed to, and embraace the moment every time you smell Coffee & Clove.
Coffee from a local Gent favorite
A highly rated Gent coffee bar with 2 locations, take five espressobar offers a welcoming jazzy atmosphere with excellent specaility coffee and single origins. Since 2017 when I moved to Gent, this has been my favorite coffee spot. I became a regular customer, then eventually a flexi employee on some weekends. I found a new use for the left over coffee grinds that are discarded the end of each day. They are part of what makes Coffee & Clove candles so special, and connected to the local community.
Clove is an all encompasing beneficial ingredient
Organically sourced Clove (both powder and whole) contains endless benefits that have been sought after for centuries. It’s warm spicy and comforting smell also can deter pests, and creates a calming, purifying effect when burned.
The idea conceptualized
It started from being fed up with all the mosquitos in the house during the summer months. I learned that burning coffee grinds (often seen at some restaurants or bakeries) keeps the pests away. However, this wasn't the best option for our indoor space, so I began experimenting with turning my idea into a candle that lasted longer, smoked less, and smelled great, naturally! Using organic and recycled ingredients got me really excited to bring my idea to life!

Each candle is hand poured in small batches making them all slightly unique, and may vary with their own characteristics, but always made with a personal touch of heart and soul.
Most candles, perfumes and sprays contain synthetic fragrances which are compounds that disrupt your endocrine system, effect hormone levels, and can cause headaches, dizziness and respiratory issues. Also paraffin wax releases phthalates, and volatile organic compounds into your indoor air and is a petroleum by-product, releasing more pollutants when burned.
Thats why its best to choose soy wax which comes from hydrogenated soy bean oil. It is renewable, biodegradable, and clean-burnig! Its naturally creamy and mild scent mixes perfectly with spent coffee, and organic clove. Both will improve your mood, enhance your focus, and naturally freshen your air with a plesant, non-toxic scent to create a cozy clean atmosphere!
